For the first time, Special Olympics North America is hosting a Regional Athlete Congress. Congratulation to Erin Magee from Special Olympics Sackville-Bedford who applied and was invited to represent Special Olympics Canada.

“Attending the SONA Congress is an impressive opportunity to gain new skills and abilities to be a better athlete leader” – Erin Magee

From March 8–13, 2026, 27 athlete leaders representing Programs across the U.S., Special Olympics Canada, and the Caribbean will gather in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The objective of the SONA Athlete Congress is to gather information on issues that impact local programming, train participants in personal and professional development skills, as well as the necessary problem-solving skills. Participants will also select the attendees who will represent SONA at the 2027 Global Athlete Congress in Chile.
